Climate Change Central
Climate Change Central is a unique partnership between Alberta businesses, governments and the environmental community, that promotes the development of innovative responses to global climate change and its impacts. Started in 2000, this not-for-profit organization builds links and relationships between businesses, governments and other Alberta stakeholders interested in reducing greenhouse gases. C3’s mission is to assist the people of Alberta, as individuals, institutions, businesses and governments to become world leaders in identifying and implementing:
- Policies, programs and activities that most effectively reduce net greenhouse gas emissions through technological innovation, public outreach and education;
- Strategies to adapt to climate change effects and improve energy efficiencies.
C3 has a staff of 16, an average annual operating budget of $2.0 million and an average annual project budget of $3 million. C3 also administers flow-through funds in the form of incentives or loans, such as the $100 million municipal energy efficiency, interest-free loan program.
