Concepts such as porosity and processes such as underground oil and gas formation are introduced in activities featuring hands-on investigations, student participation and concrete examples.

Earth Really Rocks online activity (Parent Guide, 84KB PDF) is designed for students studying rocks and minerals and is an extension of the learning resource. Students should work through some of the activities in the print resource before they try the online activity. The activity uses graphics, sound and animation to encourage students to investigate where petroleum comes from, how rocks and petroleum are related, and how many useful products we get from rocks.
