What is electricity distribution?

The electric system is made up of an interconnected network of generating plants, transmission lines and distribution facilities. High voltage transmission systems carry electricity from the power plants and transmit it over long distances. At the distribution substation, local electrical utilities take the power from the high voltage transmission lines and lower the voltage to suitable levels for local domestic, commercial and industrial customers.
